In November I had the privilege of attending a performance of the first national tour of Dear Evan Hansen. Although I had listened to the soundtrack and watched clips on youtube, this was my first time seeing the show in person.
I sat in the mezzanine, so at times it was hard to see the actors, but the nearby speaker allowed for rich sound and an immersive experience. Because it was a Sunday evening performance, the role of Evan was played by alternate, Sam Primack.
As a person who has seen many shows, I feel like I am very hard to impress, but I had really underestimated Dear Evan Hansen. It was one of the strongest, most moving shows I have ever seen, and I was on the edge of my seat for every minute. I highly recommend this show to all.
I also was fortunate enough to get to meet some of the actors at the stage door. It was a very fun experience that I will never forget.
