The Fourth Biennial West Houston Teen Leadership Summit is being hosted by State Representative Jim Murphy; it will be held on Saturday, February 22 at Norris Conference Center in City Centre.
West Houston high school sophomores and juniors will attend the event along with 200 “Community Delegates”. Over 20 high school participated in the 2018 summit.
Chase Untermeyer, former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, will be a 2020 summit panelist, after participating in both the 2016 and 2018 West Houston Teen Leadership Summits in the past. He speaks highly of Representative Murphy’s program, and is looking “forward to talking with the future leaders of our community… If there’d been a Teen Leadership Summit [when I was a teenager], it would have introduced me to men and women who had achieved public office and who could have given advice on what to do.”
The speakers will cover four major topics at the summit: Business, Politics, Media, and Philanthropy. The students will also have the opportunity to engage in group discussions with experts to drill down on specific policy issues.
“The long term success of our community is predicated on the development of our next generation of leaders. This program will help these students take their first, or next, step towards leadership,” said Representative Murphy.
